NEW MISSION, SAME VISION
From Visions for Europe to SIERA Magazine

After its maiden edition in the first quarter of 2021, Visions for Europe has transcended into a powerful and influential channel and media outlet that promotes and tells the story of sustainability within and around the European Union.

As our Publisher and EUTECH Chairman Florian Frhr. Von Tucher said in the inaugural issue of Visions for Europe, “The visionary aspect of our commitment to a sustainable future will be at the heart of the magazine, but the contents will always focus on the practical and innovative developments that we know, have to be the bedrock of our ultimate success.”

And for three years – and 12 issues, we have done just that. Visions for Europe focused on the importance of bringing into light specific issues that the continent is facing in terms of sustainability, stories that are critically important to ensure that this important quality be institutionalised, especially as our audience are among the key decision makers in Europe’s top 14 industries.

Visions for Europe also covered relevant conferences and webinars, particularly among the SIERA Alliance’s 14 industry councils. These webinars have had tremendous impact in bringing together relevant industry leaders and communicated the successes of these gatherings in bringing together various sectors in the hope of institutionalising change and overcoming obstacles for a greener, brighter future.

The magazine also covered the annual EUTECH SDG Awards, which recognises outstanding contributions to achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. For instance, winners like Ecodorp Boekel, a Dutch sustainable community, and Wide Therapy, an online therapy platform for underserved communities, have been celebrated for their transformative projects.

Now, with the renewed mission of the magazine in mind, the Visions for Europe team is giving the magazine a rebrand, a name which marks a pivotal moment in the history of the publication.

Visions for Europe is rebranding to SIERA Magazine beginning this issue, with a renewed focus on telling the story of sustainability.

Our change is in the name – but the same high quality of journalism and storytelling remains,” Mr von Tucher said. “The new name symbolises a broader vision and a renewed focus on storytelling that transcends borders and traditional channels. While Visions for Europe was deeply rooted in the European thrust for technology, SIERA Magazine aims to address and report sustainability problems, challenges, solutions, and opportunities on a wider scale, aligning with the interconnected nature of today’s world. Europe’s top 14 industries have a lot to offer in terms of pros, cons, and solutions, and we aim to be that avenue for that kind of storytelling,” von Tucher added.

CARRYING THE TORCH OF SUSTAINABLE STORYTELLING

The decision to rebrand Visions for Europe to SIERA Magazine reflects both continuity and evolution. According to von Tucher, “The name SIERA encapsulates what stories we tell – Sustainability, Impact, Environment, Responsibility and Alliance,” explains von Tucher. “It’s a reflection of our belief that the stories we tell have the power to shape a sustainable future for everyone, everywhere.”

At its core, SIERA Magazine will uphold the editorial integrity and trusted storytelling that made its predecessor a staple in sustainability discourse. This means continuing to feature the voices of changemakers, innovators, and policymakers who are shaping the future of sustainability.

The magazine’s editorial team has pledged to maintain its rigorous standards for research and reporting. Articles will continue to delve into the complexities of issues like climate change, renewable energy, sustainability, and the circular economy, offering nuanced perspectives and actionable insights. However, SIERA Magazine will also push boundaries, exploring emerging topics such as, but not limited to, climate tech startups, the role of artificial intelligence in sustainability, and the intersection of social justice and environmental stewardship.

One of the most exciting aspects of the transition to SIERA Magazine is its commitment to innovation in storytelling. Recognizing that today’s audiences consume information in diverse ways, the publication is strengthening its digital platforms to reach a wider audience.

“Our storytelling will reflect the interconnectedness of today’s challenges and solutions,” says Mr von Tucher. “We’re committed to showcasing the diversity of voices and ideas that are shaping the sustainability landscape.”

CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS: THE CORE OF OUR STORYTELLING

While the transition to SIERA Magazine represents a fresh start, it is not without challenges. The sustainability landscape is more complex than ever, with growing concerns about greenwashing, political polarization, and the widening gap between rhetoric and action. Addressing these issues will require not only thoughtful reporting but also a commitment to accountability and transparency.

The magazine’s editorial team acknowledges these challenges and views them as an opportunity to deepen its impact. “Our role is to cut through the noise and provide our readers with sustainability insights and stories they need to make informed decisions and shape the way they implement and institutionalise sustainability,” says Paolo Barcelon, SIERA Magazine’s sub-editor and journalist coordinator. “That means being objective and honest in our storytelling and reporting, and holding ourselves and others to the highest standards.”

SIERA Magazine also aims to tell stories of innovations and change, as well as giving a voice to those making these sustainable changes possible in their daily life. Among them are influential personalities from the 14 councils of the SIERA Alliance, winners of EUTECH’s SDG Awards, and key figures in the CSRD and I.ESG community who will all have their own share of telling the important stories, analysing key issues, and deliver messages of hope and sustainability from Europe and around the world.

As SIERA Magazine embarks on this new chapter, its mission remains unchanged: to inspire action, foster collaboration, and drive progress toward a sustainable future. By building on the legacy of Visions for Europe and embracing innovation, the magazine is poised to become an even more influential voice in the global sustainability conversation.

“This is not just a rebranding; it’s an evolution,” says von Tucher. “We’re excited to carry forward the spirit of Visions for Europe while exploring new horizons with SIERA Magazine.”

Von Tucher adds, “If Visions for Europe was the voice of sustainability, SIERA Magazine promises to be its anthem.” With its renewed focus and unwavering commitment to trusted storytelling, SIERA Magazine is set to lead the way in bringing the stories of sustainability to life—for Europe and the world.
